Project Description

A contemporary Bow String design to replace the existing modest St Botolphs Bridge next to the Historic Boston Stump. We were the architects responsible for the design, working under cover for Lincolnshire County Council Highways Department for 2 years. Various alternative schemes were designed by ourselves which went through a rigorous public consultation exercise. The final design boasts 2 tubular arcs which gently touch each other in the centre. Modern materials including tension wire and feature lighting have been used, together with our idea of an information display in the centre of the bridge to allow pedestrians to identify nearby landmarks. The bridge was completed during the latter part of 2013 and contrasts well against the traditional backdrop of the town.
